Important Family Summer Updates & Reminders

Dear °µÍø½ûÇø DC Families,

We hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer! With the first day of school a little more than a month away, our team is preparing and working hard to ensure a strong start to the school year. Learn more aboutÌýwhat to expect in AugustÌýwhen the 2021-22 school year starts.ÌýThroughout the summer, we will share more information with you on student learning, health and safety, and more key details to ensure your student is set up for success on the first day of school.

As we look ahead, here are a few important updates and reminders that we wanted to ensure are on our families’ radar.

Summer Meal Program

°µÍø½ûÇø DC’sÌýmeal programÌýwill continue throughout the summer. Families can pick up meals on Tuesdays from 10:00 am-2:00 pm at our Douglass Campus (2600 Douglass Rd SE). Please direct any questions on our meal program toÌýmeals@kippdc.org.

Student Immunizations

All students must be up to date on their immunizations before participating in in-person learning. If you have questions about your child’s immunization history, contact your medical provider and request a copy of your child’s immunization history, or call the DC Health Immunization Program at (202) 576-7130. Visit ourÌýImmunizations webpageÌýfor more information and helpful resources. Please contactÌýimmunizations@kippdc.orgÌýwith questions.

Virtual Learning Option for Medically Vulnerable Students

°µÍø½ûÇø DC has heard from some families that they want a virtual option for student learning in the upcoming school year. We respect our families’ choices, and this program is focused on ensuring the needs of all students and families are met.

Virtual learning will be available in the 2021-22 school year to students who submit a medical certification form completed by a licensed physician or nurse practitioner documenting a student’s physical or mental health condition that requires virtual learning.

If you believe your child qualifies for our virtual school program, please complete a brief questionnaire as soon as possible:

A member of our virtual school team will then reach out and walk you through the enrollment process.

COVID-19 Vaccination

Vaccination against COVID-19 is one of the most important tools we have to protect our community and help bring an end to the pandemic. °µÍø½ûÇø DC strongly encourages COVID-19 vaccination for students who can access them. We are committed to supporting our families in acquiring as much information as possible to make the best decision for their household. Learn more by checking out thisÌýhelpful list of resourcesÌýwe have compiled to assist our families in accessing and understanding COVID-19 vaccines.

Best regards,

°µÍø½ûÇø DC
