Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose—college, career, and beyond—so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world. Regional staff advances this mission by ensuring teachers and students can focus on teaching and learning.

Why Join DC

Impact

An excellent education is the best path to a life of choice and opportunity. DC is consistently one of the highest-performing PreK-12 public school systems in the District of Columbia. Our students are matriculating to college at nearly twice the DC average, and our alumni are on track to graduate at four times the DC average. By teaching with us, you are contributing to this important mission at high-performing schools.

Growth

At DC, we believe we are always learning. We’ve identified core competencies that drive our work and aligned development opportunities to these competencies. All employees have funds to seek professional development, weekly development opportunities planned by the DC team, and partnerships with outside organizations for team members to sharpen their skills.

Team Culture and Equity

We build a strong regional culture through recognition, collaboration, and joy. From annual awards, lunch and learns, and team outings, there are many ways we come together as a team. As a public school system, we also aim to identify and confront institutional racism to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization for staff and students. Bi-annual all-staff surveys, quarterly diversity equity and inclusion training, and our Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Coalition ensure we create a culture that allows the team to advance our anti-racist mission.

Competitive Salary and Benefit Package

DC offers for regional roles. All starting salary ranges are listed on job descriptions. DC offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, vision, various voluntary benefits, and employer paid benefits such as short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and a membership to One Medical. "I have the great privilege of training the teachers who ultimately stand in front of kids, and because my role is a bit more flexible, I’m able to share insight with school leaders and share those practices, which ultimately impacts our kids."

Ashley Carter, Director of the Capital Teaching Residency
