Career Development

Career Readiness Plan

is dedicated to seeing every alumni to and through college, but also to preparing them for the world beyond. The Team works closely with students and alumni to develop the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose- college, career, and beyond-so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.

  • Internships & Externships

A number of DC students participate in summer internships, immersion, and prep programs to experience robust opportunities outside of the classroom.  These programs include the Accenture Student Empowerment Program, The CARE Dual Enrollment Program, Franklin & Marshall College Prep, OSSE Scholars Summer Enrichment Program, and Shakespeare Theatre Company.

  • Employment

encourages every student to develop a Career Readiness Plan focused on developing self-assurance and understanding where they are, connecting with the world beyond, building the skills to be career-ready, and applying skills in real-time while gaining work experience.

  • Networking & Professional Development

Each year, the team host a Professional Networking session. The reception-style event gives college-age alumni an opportunity to practice their professional “soft skills” while networking with local professionals from across different industries.

  • Interview Preparation

The team assists alumni with opportunities, such as mock interview preparations, to practice their professional skills with corporate partners and business owners.
