What a busy month! From stellar Black History Month events at each of our schools to hosting the first annual Young Men’s Empowerment Summit, the community relations team was busy in February. Check out all the things that happened this month!
First Annual Young Men’s Empowerment Summit
On Saturday, February 24, middle and high school students from all over Washington D.C. came out to  °µÍø½ûÇø DC’s first annual Young Men’s Empowerment Summit! In partnership with Mayor Bowser’s DC , °µÍø½ûÇø DC welcomed 200 young men and their fathers to a day of empowering discussions, panels, and activities around how to be productive young men in today’s society. Engagement by Design at Connect Academy
This month families from °µÍø½ûÇø DC Connect Academy participated in Engagement by Design, a professional learning community aimed at building school level advocates. The platform also provides opportunities for parents, staff, and school leaders to gain the skills necessary to sustain school and community engagement. Thanks to all the eager families that provided input. We’re excited to continue working on this new initiative to improve engagement!
District Running Collective at Discover Academy
This month, members of the partnered with Discover Academy to raise over $5000 to purchase books for each student. The DRC partnered with  to help select age-appropriate books for °µÍø½ûÇøsters. Once collected, the group dedicated a day to visit Discover Academy and organize the newly purchased books. We look forward to having members of the District Running Collective return to read to students in the Spring!
Black History Month at °µÍø½ûÇø DC
This month °µÍø½ûÇø DC  students celebrated Black History Month in many fun and unique ways. From discussion panels to live museum walks and performances, °µÍø½ûÇøsters put their best feet forward to learn and celebrate Black History of the past and present!
